TELUK BAHANG, PENANG, 20 March 2019 –Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) Penang was invited by SJKC Eok Hua to conduct water education workshop to their pupils.
The workshop was conducted with the aim of inculcating awareness to pupils that water is important and is very close to human life. Thus, they must learn the efficient way to use and save water as much as possible.
The pupils actively participated in the one-hour activity session. 30 students from Year 3 to 6 were involved in the Greywater Filtration activity facilitated by Dr Nooraida Yakob. The students were divided into 10 groups and each group must complete the task for the activity.
Apart from that, Muhammad Hafiz Ahmad, the resident RCE ‘gardening-expert’ was also there to advice the teachers on how to setup integrated green garden at their school compound. We made a site visit to the school garden and gave consultation to teachers on how to choose the right soil to plant the vegetables or herbs.
The workshop ended at 4.30 p.m. RCE Penang thanked the organizing committee for inviting us to share the expertise on water education as well as integrated green garden
